Crystal Bowersox
Gimmie one reason…Spot on with just enough extra flavor to make it fun. I still have no attraction to her (could be the missing tooth or the appearance of a shower-less lifestyle)…but this was her best performance by far.
Siobhan Magnus
House of the rising sun…very adult… controlled throughout the song… she is a great wildcard…great.
Lacey Brown
Folksy and much better than last week. Highs and lows were very controlled. Overall nice performance and should be safe.
Katelyn Epperly
I feel the earth move…song is a bit more dynamic than just standing there playing a keyboard. Sound was pretty good…but disconnected and dull.
Didi Benami
A little Stevie Nicks…wow…that was dull…no spark…a little folksy…connection was there…but I didn’t care.
Lilly Scott
Patsy cline…butchered like a Christmas ham…she has the voice to do it, but doesn’t have a country bone in her body. Way too far off to make it work.
Katie Stevens
Breakaway…starts flat…and never gets out of it. Chorus a little better…but not by much…sub par all around.
Paige Miles
Smile…weird walk up…weird vibrato throughout the song…like nervousness…middle outpaced the music…an overall sloppy mess.
Might not be any sisters in the big show this.
Paige Miles
Laying down the OG Clarkson tune…and it was good. Less angry…for sure. A week or two of polish and she can record it.
Katie Stevens
Wow…album ready…great lows…easy and controlled. Put your records on.
Lilly Scott
Indy indeed…but with style…Sam Cooke..has a Amiee Mann vibe (but with energy) Needs to do some KT Tunstall….very good.
Crystal Bowersox
Still has the “rode hard and put away wet by life” look to her…But has a nice and dynamic voice…A young Bonnie Raitt vibe and effortless delivery.
Didi Benami
Hmmm…chorus is good…but the lows are a bit rough and for the most part… boring…she is cute, but seems out of her element with the soulful song.
Katelyn Epperly
Most Cold Play songs can be sung by a woman so it wasn’t too far off…smoother…although missed a lot of the power of the song…. boring…. good recovery at the end.
Lacey Brown
Great song…valiant effort…but the nervousness hurt it…Not enough changes to make it special …good ending…nice.
Haeley Vaughn
Lisp and all going after Miley Cyrus…good highs…but lows miss the mark…maybe in about 4 years…to young.
Michelle Delamor
Creed…good attempt at a power ballad…a bit lost in the second half…horrible final note.
Due to one of the chicks having a diabetes incident ( yes..the homeless looking one) the order was switched up and the dudes go on tonight
In order of how I think they finished.
Mullett – Alex Lambert
Everybody Knows…Very John Mayer…catchy… fun to listen too and very nice.
(creepy moment….Randy’s package has it ‘own language’)
Lee Dewyze
Rock ballad in the Daughtry mold…very polished…raspy front man style…might hurt him in the long run …but it worked tonight
Big Mike – Michael Lynche
Mans World…Fits his voice …perfect song choice…Performance was very good.
Casey James
‘I don’t wanna be’…not clean…to staccato and a pale rendition of the original and way below the Bo Bice version…pretty good guitar work though.
Parkman – John Park
Gravity…I still only see him as a great karaoke singer…a singing career for sure…just not a star. Slow song when he needs something to stand out
Aaron Kelly
Struggling with My Girl…mostly vibrato problems…but selling the song….ending flat…nice try, but not a front runner.
Andrew Garcia
Good smooth voice…kind of weird t o watch without a guitar…seemed off pitch and dull. Needs to trust his voice , perform more and loosen up.
Jermaine Sellers
ROCK THE ONESY…but the hair has to go…wrong attitude for the somber song…vocals pretty smooth but still wrong. Scat was even good.
Todrick Hall
Does another perfect butchering of a classic song. He can sing but his self indulgent and phony victimhood (colorblind casting…are you kidding me?) needs to tone it down changes or go home.
Tim Urban
Better than last week…but this is his ceiling…I don’t see any way to improve…Ellen has a good point…he is a’ Glee character’…I don’t think he is a pop star. (Deb says he would fit in a partridge family remake…brilliant observation)
Not a lot going on yet…I don’t like the freaks and geeks city search parts…and the Hollywood week is to whinny and cutthroat to be entertaining…BUT…here is a very good ‘I’d buy that‘ moment from the first night of Hollywood week…
Andrew Garcia
So many people blogging about the Super bowl ads…thought I would throw down my favorites.
Only two really worked for me:
An excellent sports put down…brought to life. With an Abe Vagoda to boot.
The true definition of excellent Satire…both side of the ideology can find humor or redemption in it.
I would have liked the Colts to win, I have deep dislike of all teams who wear black uniforms, case in point… did you see on the onside kick when Saints coaches ran to the pile yelling at the refs..that’s the black uniform mentality…classless) but really I didn’t care who won…I like Manning on the Colts ..but their owner is an asshole…I like Brees and Shockey on the Saints…but that’s it. I Had some bad experiences in New Orleans and really have no love for the place. I liked the mistake free football of the first three quarters…but when the game ends on the fuck up of one person…it drives me nuts. (off soapbox now)
I’m not talking about North Park (most tasteless PSA Airline joke ever…I know) I am talking about another great PSA (Public Service Announcement) made somewhere else.
In real time 10 seconds….in style and message…Years….
Family friend Heath Farwell was named to the 2010 Pro Bowl. (Hopefully he won’t play due to other arrangements) Mom would be proud of Heath….and you know all the Socal Haas/Dini/Farwell clans are.
