(3 of 5 if you are a dog lover)
One of the better Disney flicks to come out for a long time. Paul walker (must be a film festival) is an antarctic guide hired to take a college professor to a special mountain before the winter hits. With his trusty…and yes amazing dog sled team…they head off on the two day journey. A few mishaps (one because of the dogs) and the trip is cut short. But winter comes too fast and they have to leave early’¦with no time to take the dogs. The rest of the movie is about how dogs try to survive…and how Paul tries to get back to the now snowed-in outpost. The ‘˜one point off for dog lovers’™ is due to the pure dread you feel throughout the movie. Imagine’™ Lassie come home’™’¦but when he gets there’¦two of his legs were gone and one eye was missing’¦.and it was your fault!!….you would cry for a decade. Well’¦you kind of get those feelings right from the get go. For non-dog people it was a great adventure showing what real heroes are and importance of family. And if you want to know why the director did so well with the snow….it was Frank Marshal..the director of ‘Alive’…kind of the same movie …now that I think about…but this movie was PG..so the dogs didnt each each other.
